Tate Socha is a Pro American Model and a talented photographer. He knows how to go in front the lens and get great capture behind. With the best of both worlds, Tate is bringing both talent and creativity to the modeling industry. Read our exclusive interview below with Model Tate Socha:
Q: Where are you originally from and where are you located now ?
Tate Socha – A: Ocean City, Maryland with a pitstop in Charlottesville, Virginia. I now live in Venice, California – just off Abbot Kinney Blvd. Catch me at Blue Bottle.
Q: As a professional model and photographer, What would you say you love most about modeling and the fashion industry?
Tate Socha – A: From a photographer perspective (@_westsidelife), hearing how other photographers direct & understanding how I need to work on set (as a model) better enables me to guide others when I’m photographing them. From a modeling perspective, I feel natural in front of the camera. That said, there’s always some sort of “fourth wall” that you’re breaking as you step into your space on set. The fashion industry has been on fire lately, and I’m a big fan of the broader unisex movement in clothing design.
Q: Do you have a top 3 selection of fav designers that you admire and want to work with in the business?
Tate Socha – A: I’m going to give you 4 brand names. Acne Studios, Rowing Blazers (love the campaign Sam Dameshek did with them!), Everlane (I mean seriously.. the clothes are comfortable, simple, and cost-efficient), and Casablanca (love the designs).
Q: As a model, it’s always important to be healthy and have energy so you are always ready for your next shoot. What do you do to always stay healthy and focused ?
Tate Socha – A: I make it a point to workout 4x /week – 3 of which I am in the gym. I’m an avid Peloton fan, so I tend to use their mobile app for lifting routines (check out Daniel McKenna; @theirish_yank on IG) and runs, and the bike for at-home cycling. The app itself is $12.99/mo for access to all workouts, so it’s pretty efficient given the high-quality content. Not to mention the coaching is unparalleled. For food, I’m a mixed bag to be honest. I do eat a lot of protein — Greek Yogurt, Cottage Cheese (a lot.. maybe too much?), Protein Bars/Shakes, Egg Whites, Peanut Butter. My late-night snack is always Greek Yogurt with fruit. All this said, I did eat 3 spicy chicken sandwiches last night from Main Chick Hot Chicken..
Q: Share with us something people may not know about you . What hobbies or other secret talents do you have and or like to do in your spare time?
Tate Socha – A: I’m in Tech Sales. This throws a lot of people I meet in LA off. So I sell company-related data tools to participants in the capital markets space (Investment Banks/Private Equity/Venture Capital). Been doing that for 3 years now. I’m an avid surfer that loves farmers markets, simple food items (e.g. baguette with goat cheese & honey), horror films (Halloween Kills!), and swimming at sunset.
Q: Do you have any new or recently finished projects?
Tate Socha – A: Two recent projects come to mind. I just wrapped a project with Michael White (@whitefilmm.crtv) where we ran with the concept of “Forever Summer.” As we head into Fall (whatever that looks like for a city with eternal sunshine), I wanted to encapsulate the feelings of freedom and warmth frozen in time. Mike was great to work with and provided plenty of freedom to direct the whole shoot (looks/location/essence). The second project (which hopefully won’t be the last) was working with Brian Kaminski. Brian was very fun to work with; though the photos aren’t out as of writing this, I saw a few previews.. I’m quite excited
He’s very talented at capturing a new perspective of one’s self.
