“Through the Blinds” Fundraiser Lights Up Los Angeles with Purpose and Impact On June 25, 2025, Los Angeles – hosted a powerful and purposeful event: a high-impact fundraiser for Through the Blinds, a groundbreaking anthology film. Organized under the banner of #STAYINLA and presented in partnership with nonprofit Satellite Collective, the event brought together filmmakers, industry professionals, and advocates to support a film that reimagines who gets to tell their story—and how those stories are told.
About the Film: Through the Blinds
Through the Blinds is a cinematic anthology of seven short films, each set in the same Southern California home across different decades from 1957 to 2019. While each chapter tells a standalone story, together they form a unified portrait of American womanhood, identity, and resilience—entirely from female and nonbinary perspectives.
The film begins with a 1950s housewife struggling with racial isolation and concludes with a 2019 social media professional confronting emotional disconnection. In between, audiences encounter stories of colonial trauma, generational conflict, sexual awakening, and the quiet power of friendship. Each chapter highlights how themes of home, safety, grief, freedom, and belonging evolve across time and cultural shifts.
A Night of Creative Vision and Social Impact

The June 25 fundraiser offered guests a night of exclusive previews, live music, director introductions, and networking opportunities—all centered around the goal of launching Through the Blinds and advancing gender equity in the entertainment industry.
Producer and visionary Luna Zhang commented on the recent event:
To me, it’s truly moving—my heart is touched by everyone who took the time to come out, to listen to our story, to hear each director’s vision and the songs, to watch our sizzle reel. The response has been incredible. So many people not only supported the film but also connected deeply with the Project and what it stands for.
They want to witness how women’s social, family, and personal status has changed throughout the decades — seven decades, to be exact. I felt the support from the community — from everyone who was present or even those who were with us spiritually. It feels like we’re all supporting each other — with strength, with heart, with care.
Luna’s leadership in socially conscious filmmaking continues to expand. Her latest film Still Smiling, which tackles domestic violence, premiered recently at the TCL Chinese Theatre. Luna Zhang’s previous projects have been featured at Sundance, TIFF, Tribeca, and other major film festivals.
