Elisha Moore is an Actress in the film industry most known for her roles in “Chocodos,” “Sticom,” “Live a Little Die a Lot,” and “Unforgotten.” We recently had an exclusive Q & A with Elisha where she gives us insight on her film projects and confirms being cast in a new action film! Read further to find out the latest and more!

Q: Where are you originally from and where are you located now on the map?

Elisha Moore- A: I’m originally from Melbourne, Australia. Currently I’m located in Los Angeles.

Q: As a leading actress, what motivates you and inspires you to be the best at your profession and what do you love most about acting?

Elisha Moore- A: Stories are what inspire me and how powerful they can be. To motivate, to make change, to open people’s perspectives, to empathize, and to educate.  Each time I’m blessed with the opportunity to work on a new story and character, not only am I being given the opportunity to work on my craft as an actor. I’m gaining valuable insights into someone else’s experience in life, their set of circumstances and perspectives. Each new world I inhabit enriches me as a person and Artist and helps me better understand people and life. To do the best work for me means to find the absolute truth of the character and the circumstances and experience it. Not shying away from all the parts that make us human, even the ugly parts that we want to hide away.

There is nothing more motivating than an exciting script and story. With nuanced and complex characters. It’s like reading a good book you can’t put down. The ideas already start flowing, and your imagination kicks in. How you see this person, their walk, how they speak, interactions with other characters, their relationships, and how they see the world. It’s such a fun, creative space to be in developing a character. I really enjoy the research part of the job too. And I love getting to learn new skills. Each script/character/project comes with its new set of challenges and lessons.

And then when you get on set or in the rehearsal room, it becomes all about collaboration. There is nothing more exhilarating than working with others who are just as passionate as you and making something together that all means so much to you all.

Q: Do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you are most inspired by and want to work with in the business?

Elisha Moore- A: Jodie Foster. It would be an absolute dream to work alongside her acting or having her direct me. She’s so inspiring, with her range of characters she executed. I’m constantly in awe of her work and the longevity she’s had in this business. Constantly evolving and gaining new skills. When I watch her work, I’m always surprised by her choices, and all her characters are grounded in complexity and truth.

I’m also a huge fan of Sarah Paulson. I was fortunate enough to see her perform on stage in Inappropriate in New York. I was so moved by her performance. She’s fierce and unafraid and just owns the stage. I look up to how versatile she is with both stage and screen.

Reed Morano – I’m so inspired by her journey as a director. I think it’s such a unique and outstanding perspective she has coming from her DP role to directing. She would be such a wonderful person to collaborate with. I love her creativity and ability to really understand the world she enters as a director and the style she brings to each of her projects.

Viola Davis is someone I also have to mention, she is one of my dyslexic queens who strives for excellence in performance, which is something I always look up to. She holds no boundaries for herself and always looks for the truth.

Q: What would you say is your favorite genre in roles to play( Drama, Comedy, Crime, Action, a little bit of all) ?

Elisha Moore- A: Right now I feel the most comfortable doing Drama. Most of my training and current films have been centered more around Drama. It’s easier for me to feel my way into it and discover moments. Most of the themes and subject matters I’m most passionate about seem to lie in the Drama or dark comedy world. Though I really enjoy Crime, Sci Fi, and apocalyptic worlds too. And who wouldn’t want to do a fun Comedy with super high stakes? Really, I love it all for different reasons.

Ultimately I feel the most reward in Drama and Crime in trying to bring forth the characters internal world. After working on a dark character, it’s always fun to alternate and go back to comedy.

Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time ?

Elisha Moore- A: I’m a huge sweet tooth. And I would eat dessert for dinner if it wasn’t unhealthy for you. I come from a dance/circus background and was part of a circus group for 3 years, specializing in tissue/silks. I’m also dyslexic and barely passed high school. I think it’s why it was easier for me to do a lot more physical theater than dive straight into just acting with scenes. So if I’m not there on the first day for the table read, you know why. No, my dyslexia has gotten a lot easier to manage, but doing the first read-through will always feel like the scariest thing for me.

While backpacking in South and Central America, I got my scuba diving license. It’s like underwater meditation. I’ll never forget the first time I saw a shark. There were two of them together just swimming along beside me.

Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?

Elisha Moore- A: I recently wrapped on the short film Wild Rumpus, playing the leading role, Nova—a schizophrenic drug addict who doesn’t leave her house and is traumatized by her mother’s suicide. I’m passionate about working with characters that have a mental illness and are finding a way to manage or cope with it. This project is a drama written and directed by Yiana Pandelis and part of Bellyache Pictures. One of the challenging parts while filming it was the long takes, consisting of movements with the cinematographer. We did extensive rehearsals prior to the actual shoot days so that we knew our blocking for each scene. But like with every film there is always something you have to adapt to on the day. I’m excited for it to do the film festival circuit, to see how audiences respond.

In regards to upcoming projects, I was just cast as the lead actress set to play the protagonist, Leigh, in the Action-Drama short film “Facepunch.” Part of The Playback Collective, directed by Erick Solis. This will be my first Action film that will involve me doing stunt work. I’ve done stunt work on stage before in plays but never for film. I’m thrilled to see how it all shifts over onset. I’ll

be doing extensive training in preparation for this role. Leigh is suffering from PTSD after serving in the military and goes on a journey of seeking revenge.
