Q: Where are you originally from and where are you located now on the map?

Mehmet Kaynar – A: I’m originally from the small town of Kangal in Sivas, Turkey. In 2007, I moved to Hong Kong, where my journey into acting truly began. I had the opportunity to work on several film projects there, including Asylum, which won Best Feature Film and earned me the Best Actor award at the Los Angeles Film & Script Festival.
During the pandemic, I also appeared in the Hong Kong TV series Flying Tiger, further expanding my experience in international productions. That time in Hong Kong sparked a deep passion for storytelling and performance—a passion that eventually led me back to San Diego, California. There, I decided to formally study acting and dedicate myself fully to the craft. Since then, I’ve been active in both theater and film—constantly learning, growing, and pursuing meaningful creative work that allows me to explore the human experience.
Q: Rising in the entertainment industry, what motivates you and inspires you to be the best at your profession at both acting and writing?

Mehmet Kaynar – A: What motivates me most is the power of storytelling to connect people, heal, and inspire change. As both an actor and a writer, I’m drawn to the emotional truth behind each character or narrative. I believe every performance and every word written has the potential to touch someone deeply, shift their perspective, and even change lives—and that’s what I strive for. I come from a small town called Kangal in Turkey, famously known for the Kangal dogs, which are symbols of strength and loyalty. Growing up there taught me humility, perseverance, and the value of community—lessons that continue to guide me in my creative journey. My ultimate goal is to use my work to make people’s lives better, whether by helping them feel seen, giving them hope, or encouraging them to dream bigger.
I’m also inspired by real-life stories—of struggle, hope, and transformation. Living in different parts of the world, from Hong Kong to San Diego, has taught me resilience and the importance of representing diverse voices. Whether I’m on stage, in front of the camera, or writing a script, I aim to bring honesty and depth to every project. The drive to grow as an artist and reach people on a deeper level is what pushes me to give my all.
Q: Do you have a top 3 favorite directors that you’re most inspired by and want to work with in the business?

Mehmet Kaynar – A: Absolutely—my top three favorite directors who inspire me the most are Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, and Clint Eastwood. Each of them brings a unique and powerful voice to cinema, and their work has had a deep influence on me as both an actor and a writer.
Scorsese’s ability to explore complex human emotions and moral struggles is something I deeply admire. Tarantino’s bold storytelling, unforgettable characters, and sharp dialogue constantly challenge creative boundaries. And Clint Eastwood’s raw, grounded style and his ability to bring out powerful performances—especially as both a director and actor—have always resonated with me.
Working with any of them would be a dream come true. Their dedication to authentic storytelling and their impact on the industry continue to inspire me to push myself artistically and bring honesty and intensity to every role I take on.
Q: When it comes to genres, what would you say is your fav roles to play( Drama, Comedy, Crime, Action, a little bit of all) ?

Mehmet Kaynar – A: I love playing all genres because I’m a diverse actor, and I’ve had the opportunity to explore a wide range of roles throughout my career—from drama and comedy to action, thriller, crime, and even experimental work. Each genre challenges me in unique ways and allows me to discover new sides of myself as a performer.
For example, I played the lead in the drama Asylum, which won Best Feature Film at the Los Angeles Film & Script Festival.

In Wan Chai Cowboy, I explored comedy, while The Wife (Interception) gave me the opportunity to dive into the action genre.
From the beginning of my journey until now, I’ve never limited myself to one type of character or story. I enjoy fully immersing myself in the world of each script, whether it’s emotional and intense or fast-paced and fun. That flexibility is part of what drives me—I want to keep growing, keep evolving, and bring something real to every role, no matter the style or tone.
That said, I do have a special connection to dramatic and crime-based roles. I enjoy diving deep into complex emotions and layered characters, especially those with moral conflicts or internal struggles. At the same time, I love the rhythm and timing of comedy and the physical and mental intensity that action roles demand. Being able to adapt across genres is one of my strengths, and it keeps my passion for the craft alive.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time ?

Mehmet Kaynar – A: Something people may not know about me is that I played soccer for most of my life. While I was living in Hong Kong, my team became the champion in the Hong Kong Soccer League and runner-up in the Hong Kong Cup. It was an incredible experience that taught me discipline, teamwork, and perseverance—qualities I carry into my work as an artist.
Outside of acting and writing, I also sing and enjoy playing a bit of piano and guitar. Music is another way I express emotions and creativity. I love playing table tennis and chess as well—both help me stay sharp and focused. One of my biggest personal goals is to become a better person every day. Growth, reflection, and staying grounded are really important to me. And when I want to relax, you’ll often find me at a cozy coffee shop—or spending quiet time at the San Diego Library, one of my favorite places to think, read, and recharge.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?

Mehmet Kaynar – A: I just wrapped up two exciting projects. One is Clean My Plate, a horror series produced as part of an independent film collaboration.

The other was a project for UCLA, where I had the opportunity to play the lead role. It was a powerful experience working with such a talented team of young filmmakers and bringing that character to life.

Right now, I have two more projects that have been confirmed and are currently in pre-production. I’m looking forward to stepping into those roles soon. It’s been a busy and creatively fulfilling time, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
