Q: Where are you originally from and where are you based now?
Ryan Sciandra – A: Originally from Orange County, California, specifically Anaheim, just a short distance from Disneyland, California Adventure, and Knott’s Berry Farm. I’m currently based in Glendale, Los Angeles.
Q: As a rising actor, what motivates and inspires you to be the best at your profession in acting and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?
Ryan Sciandra – A: What motivates me is being able to tell a story that people can kind of feel and live through. If I’m not provoking feelings out of the audience, whether positive or negative, then I’m not doing my job. Top 3 actors, filmmakers, or directors…hm…I admire many, Christopher Nolan, Steven Spielberg, and Martin Scorsese, to name a few, but I’d like to work with any director that not only listens and is adaptable but who, at the same time, strives to be fearlessly authentic to themself and their own vision regardless of what’s popular or trendy at the time.
Actors that I look up to are Tom Cruise, and I’m kind of on another Jim Carrey kick right now with Sonic 3 coming out (I go through them lol ). Again, I respect that they are both super authentic to themselves no matter what, and it shows in the roles they have chosen.
Q:What is your favorite genre in roles you play (Drama, Comedy, Action, Thriller, a little bit of all)?
Ryan Sciandra – A: Well, I’m still quite up and coming, but Drama and Comedy I think, feel the most natural for me right now, but I am interested in acting in all types of genres.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or or other talents you have and or like to do in your spare time?
Ryan Sciandra – A: I’m a big Dragon Ball and Legend of Zelda fan…and I’m also a musician of sorts since I was young.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on in film?
Ryan Sciandra – A: Well, I’m proud to say, though small, I’ve gotten some of my first speaking roles in a production this year that combined have over 13,000,000 views. In the coming year, I’m looking forward to getting principal roles in more SAG productions, specifically some films, and also releasing more music.
What is your favorite part about making music?
Ryan Sciandra – A: Every aspect. As far as the writing aspect, I like deep diving into my own psyche, my own subconscious, and just seeing what comes up. Many times it can surprise me, and I don’t judge it. What comes up is what comes up. My own truth. I believe that being able to dig deep like that and have the courage to show it to the world is its own gift that not everyone possesses that I’m grateful to have because your own deep truth is usually invariably someone else’s as well. It’s only through exploring, and even sharing when you’re ready, your own deep truths that you can realize how much more in common you have with others than you thought you did, even total strangers. And that’s pretty cool.
