Pearly Mitnasala is an actress known for her roles in Wash MY Sin (2024), Conversion Therapy (2024) and A Bad Day (2024). Pearly has won 16 awards for her films and 3 nominations! We had the chance to do an interview with actress Pearly Mitnasala, read below our exclusive Q & A!
Q: Where are you originally from and where are you based now?

Pearly Mitnasala – A: To avoid a long winded introduction, I usually say I am from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. But I was born in Andhra Pradesh, India, and grew up in Chennai. Loyalties lie with both the states. Right now, I am based in Los Angeles, California.
Q: Rising in the film industry, what motivates and inspires you to be the best at your profession in acting, and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?

Pearly Mitnasala – A: It’s one thing to watch the movie Magic as an audience, but it’s another form of high being part of the team that brings the movie Magic to their theaters, TVs, etc. What encourages me to wake up and do my best is the need to induce emotions in those watching, and they make me part of their family as they connect with what I do. What urges me to get back up and dust of failure is that this career embraces me like what my previous one never did. Performing has been me through and through since I was in my mom’s womb. She said I danced a lot inside! I draw my acting inspiration from actors who use characteristic nuances to make the character seem more real, Neil Patrick Harris, for instance. I call Matthew Perry my father in sarcasm. I built a lot of my comedic timing from him. Nayantara and Anushka Shetty from the South Indian industry are two powerhouse performers I would like my career to be built like. It would definitely be one true achievement to be able to work with S.S. Rajamouli Gaaru, be part of a Lin Manuel Miranda musical, and be part of a A24 Film.
Q:What is your favorite genre in roles you play (Drama, Comedy, Action, Thriller, a little bit of all)?

Pearly Mitnasala – A: Drama, Comedy, and Thriller are my top favorites and also my go-to to watch. I could never look at myself and think, “She is an actor who will jump from one building to another or spin kick like a badass.”
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or or other talents you have or like to do in your spare time?

Pearly Mitnasala – A: I love to sing, like on a daily basis. I trained in Carnatic music (Indian classical music) for 5 years, but after that I would listen to artists who sang complicated riffs and belted high notes and try to impersonate them and be able to stretch my vocal abilities. Whenever I find a huge mirror, the dancer in me has a field day! Oh, something no one would guess, I have a bachelor’s and a master’s in automotive engineering.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on?

Pearly Mitnasala – A: I worked on a couple short films, Wash My Sin and Conversion Therapy, none of them related to the Bible! I was fortunate to have these films win a few festivals at a few international film festivals. I am currently working on a project that is inspired from my life. A little crumb, it’s a story of when my parents were almost going to get me married to a stranger in the name of arranged marriage. It’s a fun story… It’s aimed to finish production by the end of this year. I have been part of other projects as a script supervisor and assistant director. As much as I love being on the screen, I have a soft spot for being behind the camera and be part of the team that sees and knows all the ins and outs. I had the immense fortune to have worked on films like Dress Alert, Charlie, Simmer N’Serve (a 48 hour film festival), and a few others that are yet to come out.
Q: What are your official social sites on the web that we can follow?

Pearly Mitnasala – A: You can find me on IMDB or my instagram @readyin5mins. And, no. It does NOT at all mean I get ready in 5 mins but quite the opposite.
