Mataya Britton is a rising actress most known for her roles in “The Spectacular Spider-Man,” and the horror short film “Mickey Mouse Halloween.” Mataya graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts with an Associate Degree in Acting, specializing in film, television, and theater. Her training has spanned across stages of New York City and productions of Los Angeles. Read below our exclusive Q&A with Mataya as she shares insights into her journey in acting and upcoming roles!
Q: Where are you originally from and where are you based now?
Mataya Britton – A: I’m from Canada and moved to the US in 2023 for school. I originally moved to New York City but have recently found my way to LA!
Q: Rising in the film industry, what motivates and inspires you to be the best at your profession in acting, and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?
Mataya Britton – A: I think what motivates and inspires me most are the people I surround myself with. I think having people in your inner circle who are hardworking creatives and are always there to pick you up is vital in this industry. My 3 favorite actors are Audrey Hepburn, Harrison Ford, and Robin Williams. There are so many creatives I’d love to work with, from directors like Taika Waititi, Greta Gerwig, and Darren Aronofsky to actors like Meryl Streep, Elizabeth Debicki, and so on.
Q:What is your favorite genre in roles you play (Drama, Comedy, Action, Thriller, a little bit of all)?
Mataya Britton – A: I honestly love all genres and want to dip my toes in each one at some point. I’ve always loved thrillers/horror movies as well as comedy movies. I know for sure I’d love to play a strong woman in an action film and definitely would love to try voice over for an animated film!
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other talents you have and/or like to do in your spare time?
Mataya Britton – A: Many people don’t know I write music. It’s very therapeutic to me, so it’s hard for me to show it to others outside my inner circle. I’d love to share it with the world one day, and with each song I write, I learn new things and am always improving!
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on?
Mataya Britton – A: I just wrapped a doughnut ad and am currently working on an independent web series! I’m always auditioning and am ready for what is next!
