Rising Actress Sabina Tenorio: Creativity, Curiosity & Finding Her Voice in Hollywood

Sabina Tenorio is an actress based in Los Angeles. With a passion for emotionally driven storytelling and an interest in exploring new genres, Sabina is also developing her voice as a writer and creator. In this interview, Sabina opens up about the people and experiences that inspire her, the kinds of roles she hopes to explore, her life beyond acting, and what she is focusing on next. Read below our exclusive interview with Sabina Tenorio!

Q: Where are you originally from, and where are you based now?

Sabina Tenorio – A: Currently, I live in Los Angeles, California. It’s been about four years since I moved away from my city of origin, San Luis Potosí, located in the state of the same name in Mexico. Even though it is not very well known outside of Mexico, it is a beautiful state with waterfalls, great food, unique nature, and beautiful views. It’s definitely a hidden gem that, once you get to know it, you will want to come back to.

Q: What motivates and inspires you to be the best at your profession in acting, and do you have a top three favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?

Sabina Tenorio – A: The opportunities and support my parents give me to this day are my constant motivation. They were able to give me the tools to open my own doors. I also think everything inspires me. LA is such an active and unique city. The people, my experiences here, and nature constantly inspire me, as does my curiosity about the whole world.

My sensitivity combines with my creativity; they are one. My love for animals, nature, and people also motivates me to make this a better world through my art.

Q: As an actress, what would you say is your favorite genre when it comes to the roles you play—drama, comedy, action, thriller, or a little bit of everything?

Sabina Tenorio – A: That one is really hard for me to answer because I absolutely love horror and thrillers, and I love them even more when they come with a criticism of society, like Get Out, Us, or The Witch. But I haven’t been able to play a character in a movie like that.

I usually get cast in dramas because connecting with my emotions comes easily to me, but I would love to have the opportunity to be part of a horror or thriller movie because they can also incorporate comedy or drama.

Dramas are very therapeutic for me, but they can also be really draining. I think I have done a lot of them in a row, so I want a break from those projects.

Now, comedy is something that, whenever I do it, I grow as an actress. It is so challenging and therefore so rewarding. I don’t get these opportunities often because producers or directors usually offer me drama, but I definitely want to be part of more comedies.

Q: Can you share something with us that people may not know about you? Do you have any hobbies, secret talents, or things you like to do in your spare time?

Sabina Tenorio – A: A lot of people know that I love to read, but they may not know that I love to write. I used to only write short stories, but after coming to LA, I discovered that I also love writing scripts.

I am also an activist for animals. I have been a vegetarian for over six years, and I also consider myself a feminist—very, very proudly—and an environmentalist.

I have also always loved music and singing, but it’s only been this year that I have gotten serious about improving, learning to play new instruments, and training my voice.

Q: What are some projects that you’ve recently wrapped up or that you’re currently working on?

Sabina Tenorio – A: My most recent job was a shoot with Billie Eilish, and I was also part of the new movie They Know by Bill Hader. I was also in Obsession, and I have two shorts coming up that haven’t been released yet.

Right now, I am writing original material because, even though I have been part of some amazing projects, I also feel like I have a lot to say through my own voice. Writing and producing my own projects is something that I definitely want to focus on right now.
