We had the chance to do an exclusive interview with Joseph , read further as he shares more about his love for acting and favorite behind the scenes moments!
Q: Joseph, what originally made you fall in love with acting?

Joseph Moreland – A: I was always intrigued by acting. I really started in high school, a family friend was a theater director who put on musicals and plays. I could sing, so I gravitated toward musicals and just fell in love with it. From there, I stayed involved whenever I could, whether it was church productions or community theater. Acting was always part of my life in some form, and later my kids getting involved in acting helped fuel that passion even more.
Q: At what point did you realize acting was something you wanted to pursue professionally?

Joseph Moreland – A: That realization came later in life. My wife and I raised four children, and I spent about 30 years working in industry as an electrical engineer, sales engineer, and eventually managing a national sales team. When we became empty nesters and our youngest went off to college, he also had a strong passion for acting and it really reignited my own.
I was doing community theater, and during a TV station appearance promoting a musical, someone suggested I get an agent. I did, booked a commercial shortly after, and then started getting film work. That was around 2017 when I truly decided I wanted to pursue acting professionally.
Q: What kind of roles excite you the most?

Joseph Moreland – A: Honestly, I get excited about almost any role. I’ve played police officers, good and bad. I’ve also played a pastors of all kinds, attorneys, and father figures. I really enjoy diving into the script and becoming the character. It’s less about the type and more about the quality of the script and the depth of the character, especially when it involves strong interactions with other characters and meaningful time on set.

Q: Has anything surprised you about yourself since becoming an actor?

Joseph Moreland – A: That’s a great question. I’ve always been a pretty calm and even person, even in high-pressure work situations. What surprised me was discovering how deeply I could tap into anger and violence for certain roles, like playing a corrupt police officer. That intensity was unexpected. Roles like pastors or therapists come naturally to me, but accessing that darker side was a real surprise.
Q: What are some of your most memorable experiences on set?

Joseph Moreland – A: One that stands out was working with Kevin Sorbo early in my career. Being in scenes with him and talking between takes I had chance to learning from his experience and getting guidance from him which was incredibly impactful.
Another standout was working on A Christmas of Beginnings, where I was on set every day for two weeks. It was challenging, rewarding, and allowed me to really connect with the cast. That depth of experience made it one of my most exciting and fulfilling projects.
