Q: Where are you originally from and where are you based now?
Casey – A: I was born and raised around the Lansing, Michigan area. I spent a good deal of my 20s freelancing as an IT technician and a guitar instructor. I had gotten the acting itch in high school after performing in a few plays, the first of which I was cast in the lead role.
I moved to Chicago to play guitar in a pop-punk band with a friend from Michigan. The band ended up not lasting long, so I decided to give acting a proper shot. I immediately started taking acting classes and quickly learned that there was more to acting than memorizing lines. Since then, I have performed in over 50 feature and short indie films.
I’ve planning to move to a larger city next year. More to come.
Q: As a rising actor in the industry, what motivates and inspires you to be the best at your profession in acting and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?
Casey – A: There was a line in the movie, “The Disaster Artist,” that stuck with me. “The worst day on a movie set is better than the best day anywhere else.” So, that’s what keeps me going. If I can choose to be anywhere, it’s on a film set.
I’d love to work with anyone where we can just get weird with it. Something directed by Luc Besson or Guillermo Del Toro and co-starring Bruce Campbell or Sam Rockwell. Just do something nutty. Hell, I’d do a film with Tommy Wiseau. Imagine the on-set stories that would come out of that.
Q:What is your favorite genre in roles you play (Drama, Comedy, Action, Thriller, a little bit of all)?
Casey – A: I really love working on horror films. It’s not a genre I tend to watch, but one I’m often cast in, usually as the villain.
It’s a great way to have fun and explore my dark side a bit. I like to keep it weird too, so of course I love playing in comedies.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or or other talents you have and or like to do in your spare time?
Casey – A: If you hang around me enough, you’ll hear either a random voice impression or an accent come out. Let’s face it, you’ll hear both. A little Macho Man Randy Savage or Beavis and Butt-head before a non-descript Eastern European accent.
I really enjoy editing in my free time. I usually re-edit a TV show or movie in a way I find better. I’m a supporter of the fan editing community and have contributed a few edits of my own.
Occasionally, I get the guitar out and either compose something original or create a guitar arrangement of a movie or TV show theme song. Or play whatever just to do it.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on?
Casey – A: I had the immense pleasure of working on a music video for a big-name recording artist. Gotta keep it hush hush for now. I also have a handful of short films in the works. In a couple of them, I’m playing a devil-esque character. An archetype that has become my bread and butter.
