Q: Where are you originally from and where are you based now?

Armesha Shakura – A: I’m originally from Detroit, MI, and I’m currently based in Detroit, MI.
Q: Rising in the industry, what motivates and inspires you to be the best at your profession in acting, and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?

Armesha Shakura – A: What’s a big motivation and has always been a motivation and inspiration for me to be the best at my profession is MOVIES. I’ve always been inspired by films and what impact they’ve had on me as a person first and as an actor. It’s always been a thrill for me ever since I was a little girl to look at actors on TV and film. I used to think, wow, that looks really fun, I want to do that. I grew up watching classics to hits, but a staple in my memory is Disney Channel. I remember the era of Disney where the stars were writing the Disney logo on the screen, and I just thought, wow, how fascinating it is. I was also inspired by behind-the-scenes clips and shots of actors when they were not in character talking about their profession. As a child, I never really understood the art behind it all, but I was always heavily influenced. As I’ve grown up with a more educational mindset toward it all and am still interested in breaking into the industry, I’m solid in knowing that acting is something I’ve been inspired to do from its roots and have been passionate about for years now. I have a bunch of people in the industry I’d love to have the opportunity to work with. My top 3 favorite directors I’d love to work with in this industry are James Wan, Jordan Peele, and an actor I’d love to work with is Kyle Gallner. I’m a horror fan and would love to be part of James and Jordan’s horror universe. I threw in Kyle because I remember seeing him in a bunch of films as a day player and star growing up. He is such a great actor, and his most recent work is definitely a one-up for his versatility as an actor.
Q: What is your favorite genre in roles you play (Drama, Comedy, Action, Thriller, a little bit of all)?

Armesha Shakura – A: My favorite genre is horror movies. I am obsessed with scary movies because they have the best plots. A lot of them I feel are overlooked because of how horrific and gruesome they can be sometimes, but horror is my all-time favorite movie genre.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other talents you have and/or like to do in your spare time?

Armesha Shakura – A: I used to stutter really badly as a child. I could barely speak one word, it was so bad. I grew out of it as I got older, but till this day I secretly struggle with certain words from time to time. I like to read books and watch classic horror films.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on?

Armesha Shakura – A: I just finished wrapping up my first personal project. It’s a horror short film about a young adult girl who visits her father for spring break. She visits her father to get away from college stress and rest a bit more, but this young adult girl has a troubled past with trauma that once left but unfortunately returns again. I’ve submitted my project to film festivals, and though I’m excited about it, I don’t want to share much more than the plot of it until it’s been reviewed by all festivals. It’s a bit by the book, but I just don’t want any spoilers until then.
