David van Frankenhuijsen is an actor known for his roles in Cryptic (2024), Mountainhead (2025) and The Flower of Valois. Read below our exclusive Q & A with David as he confirms latest film projects and more!
Q: Where are you originally from and where are you located now on the map?
David van Frankenhuijsen -A: Kind of all over the place. I was born in New Jersey. I was there for a few years before moving to Utah, from there it was back and forth between Utah and throughout central Europe. Then finally back to Utah before moving to LA. So, originally New Jersey, I guess and most recently, Utah.
Q: David, as a rising actor, what motivates you and inspires you to be the best at your profession and what do you love most about acting?
David van Frankenhuijsen – A: I think most actors and artists can relate in some way to “not being good enough”. A ridiculous notion, but it definitely plays a factor. I just want to be better, as best as I can be, and do more. Every project I’ve ever been on, I’ve learned something. I’ve grown from it. And it’s fun! Who doesn’t want to do fun things?
What I love most is exploring the experience of a life that’s completely different than my own. I love people, they’re fascinating. And every script is an opportunity to play as a living being. So far they’ve mostly been humans, but I’ve played some humanoids too. The deep connection to my entire self and the people I get to share these moments with is beautifully euphoric.
Q: Do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you’ve been most inspired by and want to work with in the business?
David van Frankenhuijsen – A: Daniel Day Lewis. He blew me away with My Left Foot. Robin Williams, a dynamic legend. Leonardo DiCaprio, complex and grounded. To be on a Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, or Quentin Tarantino set would be insane. And I feel like everyone says this, but A24 keeps pumping out interesting, weird, disturbing, and fascinating projects. There are so many more people that inspire me with their work, listing only three is painful.
Q: What would you say is your fav genre in films( Drama, Comedy, Crime, Action, a little bit of all) ?
David van Frankenhuijsen – A: Well, if you couldn’t tell from my list, definitely drama. I find those stories more interesting. Both to experience watching and to play. But I’m also no stranger to comedy. Especially a good dark comedy. Some absurdity is always fun! When it comes down to it, if the story is cool, fun, and/or interesting, I’m in!
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time ?
David van Frankenhuijsen – A: I’m lucky enough to be a dual citizen with the US and The Netherlands! I’m the first generation born here on my dad’s side. Thanks to that and my upbringing, I can speak three languages. English, German, and Dutch. I write a lot of poetry, which sometimes turns into raps or songs. I have a naturally forked tongue, and I like to do Muay Thai.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?
David van Frankenhuijsen – A: I just recently had the honor and privilege to work on an incredible HBO set with some amazing people and artists. You won’t see me in it, but it was an incredible experience, and I’m excited for what’s to come after. Nothing new in the works just yet, it’s all a matter of time.
