Q: Where are you originally from and where are you located now on the map?

Jose Galvan – A: I am originally from Los Angeles, CA. I moved to San Francisco in 2018 for work related to my degree. I then moved back to Los Angeles, CA, in 2020 for similar reasons, and I have lived here ever since. I started my acting career at the age of 29, and some may say it is too late, but to that I say, “I may be late, but I’m here now.”

Q: As a rising actor, what motivates you and inspires you to be the best at your profession and what do you love most about acting?

Jose Galvan – A: My inspiration comes from my circle. The people around me inspire me. They believe in me, and I do not want to let them or myself down. I want to be the best actor I can be for those who truly believe in my dream.

Acting always had a special place in my heart since I was a little kid. I love being in front of the camera, in front of an audience, or anything that would entertain people/make people laugh. I really enjoy entertaining and making others happy with my “talent.” I love working as an actor because I love the business, the people, and the atmosphere that comes with it.

Q: Do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?

Jose Galvan – A: If I ever have a chance to work with anyone, I would say that my top 3 favorite actors that I would love to work with in the business are Matthew McConaughey, Emily Blunt, and Mark Wahlberg. I love their work: Matthew when he starred in “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past,” Emily when I saw her in “Sicario,” and Mark when he starred in “2 Guns.” Their projects seem to always be amazing, and I look to be in a position when I can work with them in the near future.

Q: What would you say is your fav genre in roles you play( Drama, Comedy, Crime, Action, a little bit of all) ?

Jose Galvan – A: My favorite genres I enjoy playing are Comedy and Romance. I grew up on all those movies: “Crazy Stupid Love,” “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” “Hitch,” etc. I believe I have great comedic pauses, improv. skills, and I was a hopeless romantic back in my hayday, and that is why I say that I really enjoy projects that involve Comedy and Romance. But beggars can’t be choosers, so as a rising actor, I will take on any project that involves any genre—within reason.

Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time ?

Jose Galvan – A: Something that people may not know about me is that I prefer a good, rigorous hike over going to the gym. It is a great way to exercise the body and mind. Whenever I have spare time, I make sure to dedicate it to the mountains. As far as secret talent, I wouldn’t call it a talent, but I have the ability to speak in public very well. I feel that my communication skills are very good, and they are extremely helpful in everyday situations. It also helps that I have good comedic relief when I speak, as well. Being an actor has to come with great communication skills, and I feel like I check in all those boxes.

Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?

Jose Galvan – A: As previously mentioned, I began my acting career about a year ago. I started my acting career with the well-known actor/director David Rountree. I attended a handful of his monthly workshops and classes, where I learned the fundamentals of acting. With his help, I was able to enter the acting business little by little. Now, a project that I worked on and am very proud of was for Local Eyes Video Production. I worked on a project with them that involved Mental Health training videos. I have also worked as an extra on many other projects, but none of them had speaking roles. I am currently working on a Youtube series project with Sameer Bhavnani. The main point is that I am always looking (everyday) for opportunities/roles in this business, and although it may be hard, I cannot stop trying until I find my “The Office—Michael Scott” role – and I know I will find it, all I need is an opportunity to prove myself.
