Lana Prodanovic is a rising star actress in the entertainment industry and a familiar voice on Melbourne 3ZZZ Radio! Notably, she has been a regular presence providing weekly National Premier Leagues (NPL) updates on the station. Read below our exclusive Q & A with Actress Lana Prodanovic to find out the latest and more!
Q: Where are you originally from and where are you located now on the map?

Lana Prodanovic – A: I’m from Melbourne, Australia, and still living here. My dad’s from the Balkans, and my mum is too—though she was born here in Australia. That cultural background is a big part of who I am. It’s shaped how I see the world and influences my work in subtle but strong ways.
Q: As a rising actress, what motivates you and inspires you to be the best at your profession, and what do you love most about acting?

Lana Prodanovic – A: Acting has been a passion of mine since I was a little kid watching the Transformers movies with my brother. I knew early on that I wanted to be part of that world. Acting brings me out of my shell in a way that nothing else does. As someone who’s naturally introverted, it helps me express myself and connect with others. I love meeting new people, learning from them, and being part of stories that move people the way those early films moved me.
Q: Do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you are most inspired by and want to work with in the business?

Lana Prodanovic – A: Nina Dobrev, hands down. I fell in love with her and all the different roles she played in The Vampire Diaries—the way she transformed into completely different characters really inspired me. Sofia Carson is another one. She’s such an incredible actress, and my mum and I both cried watching The Life List on Netflix. She brings every character to life with so much honesty and depth. And Margot Robbie—she’s just magnetic on screen.
On the filmmaker side, Danaë Grieef is someone I deeply admire. She was my teacher for two years at the Australian College of Dramatic Arts and has inspired me not only with her work but also her guidance. I also look up to Dani Girdwood and Charlotte Fassler, the directors of My Fault: London. They’re such strong women in film, and we need more of that. And of course, I can’t forget Michael Bay—the Transformers films sparked my love for acting and action.

Q: What would you say is your favorite genre in roles to play (Drama, Comedy, Crime, Action, a little bit of all)?

Lana Prodanovic – A: Definitely drama—but honestly, I love a mix. My mum and I have been watching Home and Away for years, so drama has always been close to my heart. But Transformers made me love action too. I enjoy anything that challenges me emotionally, physically, or creatively.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have or like to do in your spare time?

Lana Prodanovic – A: I did gymnastics for around seven years, and it’s had a huge impact on who I am today. Walking into the gym for the first time felt like being a kid in a candy store. It taught me discipline, confidence, and control—all things that have helped me in acting too. I genuinely feel like it shaped how I approach roles now.
I’m also really into photography—it’s another way I express myself creatively. You can see a lot of my work on Instagram @lanainfocus. And a fun fact: I’ve been wearing glasses since I was five due to a lazy eye. They’re a part of me now.

In addition to acting and photography, I do weekly NPL updates on 3ZZZ radio. I also had the opportunity to complete my work placement there in 2024, which was an incredible experience. I love staying connected with the community through football. You can listen to the latest updates for Round 11 here.

Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?

Lana Prodanovic – A: I was really lucky to be part of my first vertical series here in Melbourne—it meant the world to me, and I loved every second of it. I was also fortunate enough to be an extra in All Her Fault, which was filmed in Melbourne too. It stars Sarah Snook and Dakota Fanning and is based on a book by Andrea Mara. Big shoutout to my agency, Real People for the opportunity—it’s been an amazing experience working on both of these projects, and I’m really looking forward to seeing them come to life.
