Nathalie Zagar Abitbol is a script supervisor known for The Mirror, Sweet Wonderful You and White Vinegar (2025). According to IMDb, Nathalie has 16 upcoming film projects she’s working on! Read below our exclusive Q & A with Nathalie Abitbol!
Q: Where are you originally from and where are you based now?

Nathalie Zagar Abitbol – A: I am French-Mexican. Both my parents are French, and I was born and raised in Mexico City. I grew up there and just moved to LA in January 2021.
Q: What motivates you to be the best at your profession and who are your top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?

Nathalie Zagar Abitbol – A: Ever since I was a kid, I always loved going to the movie theater. I always found a passion for storytelling and watching so many films made me want to be a part of them. I always wanted to be an actor, in school, I was a part of four theater productions and I knew that I wanted to make a career out of storytelling and film. When I moved out here to LA, I was completely inspired and motivated to immerse myself fully in the industry because here is where all the magic comes true. I learned so much from film school and experienced working on many different productions, from really low-budget independent student films, all the way to feature films and Vertical series. Every time that I am on set, I don’t feel like I’m working because of how much I love my job. I sit in the video village looking at the monitor and I am always amazed at the incredible work that my teams do. Also, I keep going to the movies constantly to keep my ideas fresh and when I come out of watching an incredible film, I can’t help but think to myself “This is why I chose this career”. I love being inspired by other artists as well, some male actors that I find impressive to see performing are Christian Bale, Ralph Fiennes and Adrien Brody. This is because when they are interpreting a character, they stop being themselves and fully immerse into the other personality, so the audience stops seeing Fiennes and starts looking at Monsieur Gustave in Grand Budapest Hotel.
Some female actors that I believe do the same as I mentioned before, and I appreciate a lot to see them work are Mia Goth, Emma Stone, and Natalie Portman. My two absolute favorite directors who inspire me constantly and always keep me wanting another film from them are Steven Spielberg and Wes Anderson, and lately I have been more invested in watching Christopher Nolan films, and I am never disappointed in his work.
Q: As a script supervisor, do you have a favorite genre you like working on the most ?

Nathalie Zagar Abitbol – A: I love to work on any genre when the scripts are good and engaging. This is because every genre has its difficulties and it’s special things to keep an eye out on, for example horror films are very heavy on the pacing, the lighting and the sound all having to coordinate perfectly; whereas comedy is all about hitting the right beats in order to make the jokes land and be funny for the audience; action is all about following closely all the choreographed movements and keeping track of every single injury or continuity change that has happened in a very fast pace. When I begin a new project, it’s always like reading a new book and immersing myself in a different world with different characters and different situations. One day you could be living a very normal day in the life of Doctor Maccabee and his new pretend wife in order to get his dream girl (like in Just Go With It, with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston), and another day you could be fighting with the resistance against the Empire to steal the Death Star plans and destroy it (like in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with Diego Luna and Felicity Jones).
Q: Can you share what are some projects you’re working on right now or recently completed?

Nathalie Zagar Abitbol – A: This year I have worked on a few very different projects, I started this year working on a Vertical drama series that will air in April on Kalos TV that talked about a man who had a terrible sickness and only one woman (who he meets in a moment of distress) can save him from dying, but this comes with big consequences for her. Then, I worked on a low-budget short film that was about a happy couple living in a house haunted by the devil himself, when the couple calls a priest to clear the bad energy in the house, we discover that the bad guy is not really the devil but someone else. Also, we are very close to wrapping the production of an Independent comedy feature film called We Want the Virus, which is about two young actors who are struggling with getting jobs right after the Covid pandemic, one night they get the idea of creating a fake fundraiser saying that they need the money to help one of them recover from Covid, and in order to cash out the money, they will do anything to “prove the fundraiser was not a scam”.
Q: Aside from being a professional script supervisor, what hobbies or other talents do you have or like to do in your spare time?

Nathalie Zagar Abitbol – A: I always like to keep myself busy, whether it is reading a new book, or watching movies and series (I even enjoy the occasional Mexican telenovela), I love to go outside for walks and do some “people watching” just to be impressed by how every single person that you see living out there has a life and a story; I am also a very big motorsport fan, I always watched Formula 1 races with my dad and I am very passionate about the sport; and also I love to travel, I have so many countries on my bucket list that I would love to go to, but for now my number one goal is to go to Italy.
