Tony Jollett is a talented actor and producer working on multiple film projects. He is most known for his upcoming roles in “Arcane, “Mean Time,” and “Miseria.” Read below our exclusive Q & A with Tony Jollett and follow his official social sites to keep up with all the latest!
Q: Where are you originally from and where are you based now?
Tony Jollett – A: I was born in San Francisco, but I was born into the cult of Synanon. Until the age of almost 8, I didn’t really know anything other than what I experienced there.
Q: As a rising actor in the film industry, what would you love most about acting, and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?
Tony Jollett – A: What I love about acting is being able to be out of my own skin, and it’s a skin that has been very uncomfortable for many years, and even when comfortable, it feels like a bit of a false feeling, like a ‘its not really me feeling me’ and that comes from having been spoken to through a speaker for 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, being told otherwise. It has to do with the thoughts that you have in and of yourself and the places where you belong, and when you find success and when you find something you enjoy, sometimes you can’t rationalize that as being something that you deserve. When you’re an actor, you can take off that skin and leave it at the door, and then you can become whatever is asked of you that day, and that in and of itself has been transformative.
My Top 3: Denzel Washington, exemplifies what it means to be a good actor and a good person. Christian Bale and Daniel Day-Lewis are also good actors in my top 3.
Q: What is your fav genre in roles you play (Drama, Comedy, Action, Thriller, a little bit of all)?
Tony Jollett – A: Drama, all day. I love anything that has emotion or draws emotion; ironically, that’s the only place I find emotion.A lot of people in the real world see me acting, and they’re blow away because that’s not at all who they’ve experienced me to be. Whereas I don’t cry in real life, but in acting, I can cry at the drop of a hat.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time?
Tony Jollett – A: I’m a triathlete. I love doing triathlons. I also love going to the gym and doing yoga. I have a family that I adore. 3 amazing children, along with being the CEO of 2 companies and the COO of a picture company. I keep pretty busy, but I would say my number one thing would be working out an yoga. If there would be no physical attributes or gained by doing it, I would still do it. The man that walks into the yoga studio or the man that walks into the gym is not the same man that walks out.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?
Tony Jollett – A: There is a movie I was apart of called “Prey By Night,” an amazing movie, and not only is it an amazing movie, it was an amazing set with an amazing production company that’s primarily almost exclusively African American, co-directed by two African Americans, and it was an honor as a middle-aged white man to be part of it, truly was. That was one of my proudest moments as an actor.
“Mean Time” is a series of 8 shorts that will puzzle into the ultimate feature. A multicultural look at women empowerment through the lens of several different cultures. 5 different languages spoken throughout the series. It’s about women taking their lives back. In other places in the world or just looking at in the US, where its just people that treat women differently that feel that they should be paid less, you know, and we do the whole spectrum. That’s another one that I’m really proud of.
“Arcane” is directed by P.M Nelson, but he is very talented. I really can’t wait for that to come out!
