Read below our exclusive Q & A with Horatio Tihanyi!
Q: Where are you originally from and where are you based now?
Horatio Tihanyi – A: I was born in Brooklyn, but my parents are Hungarian. I moved to Hungary when I was young for a few years, and in the early 70’s I came back to the United States. After high school, I moved to Manhattan, NY. I studied architecture there and was in the construction industry for over 20 years. Now I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Q: Rising in the industry, what motivates and inspires you to be the best at your profession in acting and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?
Horatio Tihanyi – A: What inspires me is to prove to myself that I can do it and to prove to others around me too. I am a really good actor and can immerse myself into any role. I don’t have the inhibition of hang-ups or anything like that because it’s what I want to do. What motivates me is my love for entertaining people. I’m the kind of guy who, when a girl buys a carton of milk at the grocery store, I’ll try to get the cashier to laugh, maybe to brighten his or her day a little bit with a joke. I love performing and I love to entertain.
Top filmmakers and Actors – A director I’d love to work with is Kevin Smith from Clerks. Actors, I think Chris Hemsworth is an amazing actor. I read in the latest review of the new Mad Max movie that Chris Hemsworth plays a villain. I think he looks phenomenal playing a villain! I would also love to work with Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Reynolds.
Q: What do you love the most about the process of filmmaking?
Horatio Tihanyi – A: Getting an initial idea of what I want to do and where I want to go with the story. Like with Krazy Dead, I wanted to write a comedy, but I didn’t know about what, I said to myself, ‘What’s a profession that nobody makes fun of?’ comedy-wise, and I said, ‘a funeral home’, and when I got that idea, everything else started falling into place, it was almost euphoric. The other part is wrapping up, like when we wrapped up with Storm Cell with Lawrence Taylor and we had all the footage that we needed. That’s really cool part I always enjoy.
Q: What is your favorite genre in roles you play (Drama, Comedy, Action, Thriller, a little bit of all)?
Horatio Tihanyi – A: I enjoy playing the gangster, corrupt cop, or the wise guy. I love comedy too, I love to make people laugh more than I love to do anything else.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or or other talents you have and or like to do in your spare time?
Horatio Tihanyi – A: I love riding my motorcycle. I like to make videos for YouTube. This is really weird, I am into ghosts and the supernatural, so I bought an Ouija board and tarot cards, and I try to contact the dead at 3 a.m., like the trend that they had on YouTube, and no dead ever come to me! Maybe they’re scared, I don’t know!
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on?
Horatio Tihanyi – A: : I’ve wrapped up American Dream. I’ve written ‘Krazy Dead’, it is currently in screenplay form and has won 102+ awards so far. I’ve also done 30 independent films, and I am about 87 percent finished editing my latest feature film, “Storm Cell.”
Q: What are your official social sites on the web that we can follow?
