Q: Where are you originally from, and where are you based now?

Ahnnika-Megan Velasquez -A: I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area—born and raised—and have been based in Los Angeles for the past three years.

Q: Rising in the industry as an actress and model, what motivates and inspires you to be the best at your profession, and do you have a top three favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?

Ahnnika-Megan Velasquez -A: What motivates me as an actress is seeing the final project come together. When I watch a movie or TV show—even one that I’m in—I think about everything that happens behind the scenes to make it happen. There is so much hard work from the actors, directors, producers, and the whole crew. I’ve been on set, so I know the days can be really long and that everyone works so hard before, during, and after filming. But seeing the finished project at a premiere screening is such an amazing feeling, and it’s no wonder why I love acting. It motivates me to keep learning, growing, and working toward bigger opportunities. One of my biggest dreams is to work on a film with Zendaya, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Jenna Ortega.

What motivates me about modeling is how creative and different every project can be. Fashion is like filmmaking—it can tell a story through culture, colors, seasons, or even a person’s personality. I also love that modeling isn’t just about clothes; you can help showcase beauty products, cars, jewelry, and so many other things. I know that time on a runway can last only a few minutes, or a photo shoot can last less than an hour, yet it can take hours of preparation. I actually enjoy being part of the whole process. When I finally see the photos or videos, it’s so exciting because all the hard work turns into something beautiful. I’d love to do a full magazine spread someday where I get to model lots of different styles and products.

Q: What is your favorite genre in roles you play (Drama, Comedy, Action, Thriller, or a little bit of all)?

Ahnnika-Megan Velasquez -A: I honestly love roles in every genre because each one lets me challenge myself in a different way. Drama is probably where I feel the most comfortable because I really enjoy connecting with emotional, authentic stories. Action is another genre I love. I enjoy roles that are physical, energetic, and exciting. Thrillers are at the top of my wish list. I haven’t had the opportunity to work on one yet, but I’d love to, and I hope that opportunity comes soon. Comedy comes naturally to me because I love to laugh, smile, and have fun. Making people laugh is something I genuinely enjoy.

Right now, I’m continuing to train and work on improvisation across all genres. My acting coach has helped me grow so much, and every class gives me more confidence and pushes me to become a stronger, more versatile actor.

Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other talents you have and/or like to do in your spare time?

Ahnnika-Megan Velasquez -A: Outside of acting and modeling, I actually stay pretty busy! This summer has been a lot of hard work and not much vacation time. I’m a varsity cheerleader, and I have five weeks of cheer practice over the summer preparing for the upcoming season. I’m also working on finding sponsors for my high school cheer team to help with the expenses that come with competitions and sideline cheer.

I’m also taking summer classes, including a language course and Health, so I can complete some of my high school requirements before graduation. During the school year, I’ve chosen to continue with Chamber Choir, which is something I really enjoy, so taking classes over the summer helps me balance everything. I already know this upcoming school year will be challenging because all of my 2026–2027 classes are AP and Honors classes. Between school, cheer, choir, acting, and modeling, I know I’ll have a lot on my plate, so learning how to manage my time, stay organized, and stay disciplined is really important to me.

When I do get some free time, my mom and I love to travel and experience new places together. This summer has been especially busy, so we haven’t had much time to do that, but hopefully we’ll be able to travel more during school breaks.

Something people may not know about me is that I was raised by a single mom. She has supported me 100% since the very beginning of my journey and has always encouraged me to chase my dreams. She is one of the strongest people I know—mentally, emotionally, and even physically (LOL!). I’m so grateful for everything she has done for me, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without her.

Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on?

Ahnnika-Megan Velasquez -A: I recently wrapped two really fun projects! One is a short film about a family whose grandmother has dementia, and my character’s mom is struggling to accept that her mom’s condition is getting worse. The other is an episodic series about a teenage girl discovering who she is while her life unexpectedly collides with another teen’s.

The short film has finished production and will be submitted to film festivals, and the episodic series is currently in post-production. I’m also working on a couple of other exciting projects that I can’t wait to share soon!
