Aline Humbert is a rising actress in the entertainment industry known for starring in both theater and many films. Aline has new projects she has confirmed! Read below our exclusive Q & A with Actress Aline Humbert to find out more!
Q: Where are you originally from and where are you located now on the map?
Aline Humbert – A: I come from a small town in the North of France. When I was 17, I moved to Paris, France, to pursue acting. Today, I live in Los Angeles, California!
Q: As a rising actress, what motivates you and inspires you to be the best at your profession and what do you love most about acting?
Aline Humbert – A: One of the things that motivates me most is that I want my mother to be proud of me. She gave and sacrificed so much for me, and I want to be worthy of that. Another thing is that I go into something wanting to do great. I don’t think anyone starts something just hoping to be somewhat OK. I believe in your dreams’ power and the “go big or go home.”.
I love acting. It’s probably one of the things I love most, and I sacrificed a lot for it without regret. Growing up, I constantly changed my mind about what I wanted to do. It seemed like I wanted to do everything, and it was a real headache for my orientation at school to decide what I should study because my interest would be in literature as well as medicine, for instance. I would watch a TV show or a movie and say, “Oh, I want to do that job or that job that the character is playing.” When I looked deeper into the job, I changed my mind because it would be tedious. At some point, I realized I didn’t want to do this or that job; I wanted to do the romanticized version I would see on TV. I realized I wanted to do everything, but only the interesting and exciting parts. I didn’t want to do this or that job. I wanted to act it. And that’s when I realized what I wanted was to be an actor and be able to portray all of that. The only way I could experience as much as I wanted was Acting.
What I really like about acting is that, yes, sometimes you have to create a whole character that is so far away from you, but even in that instance, the character is still you. What I mean is that even if the character is a person who existed and who is entirely different from you, you find an anchor in things you relate to. That forces you to show a lot of empathy and understanding for others. You arrive with your own personality, your own history, and everything that makes you you, and instead of repressing it all, you use it to create something. I don’t think acting is about hiding who you are behind elaborate characters. It’s about having the courage to show who you really are by digging deep into yourself to find humanity. It helps you experience situations you would have never imagined for yourself or faced daily. It makes you open your mind and your sight to bigger things. It forces you to look at the bigger picture. I see it as a real philosophical experience. And also, it’s really fun!
Q: Do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?
Aline Humbert – A: I greatly admire Vivien Leigh, Marilyn Monroe, and Alfred Hitchcock. If they were still among us, working with them would be at the peak of my life. More realistically, it would be a dream for me to work with Ryan Murphy. It’s his work that helped me understand I wanted to be an actress, and it gave me the pinch of courage I needed to take the step. There are a lot of actors I admire and would love to work with. In France, I would love to work with Pierre Niney or Catherine Frot. I would adore to work with Kate Winslet, RDJ, or Evan Peters. I admire their work so much, and I can only imagine how interesting it would be to collaborate with them. All of these people are real inspirations to me.
Q: What would you say is your fav genre in roles you play( Drama, Comedy, Crime, Action, a little bit of all) ?
Aline Humbert – A: It’s hard to pick just one genre! I thrive in comedy. I love to make people laugh. I will always have ideas to introduce funny bits in theater. In movies, I am very curious about action. I have yet to have the opportunity to explore the genre, but it looks so exciting and unique for an actor. Thanks to my accent, I could see myself as an international spy in some crime/action movie! I would love to do a little bit of all to experience as much as possible because I love watching all those genres. With time, some of them will pop more easily to me as my preferred one, but I want to do it all for now. I know some things scare me more, like drama, for instance. But it doesn’t mean that I don’t want to do it. Actually, it makes me want to do it even more, mainly because I’m a little scared of it.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time ?
Aline Humbert – A: I have a law degree in France! I decided to go to law school after I got my diploma from my French acting school to have a “real diploma” as a backup plan, and law seemed like the best option for me because it looks a lot like acting. I had this fantastic teacher who always said that the actor should be the defense attorney of the character they’re portraying. When you’re an attorney, you must work with an audience, of course, but you must also do a lot of text analysis. You also have to try and put yourself in someone else’s shoes to try and understand, even if you disagree with what they could’ve done.
I am trilingual in French, English, and Italian. I even spent one year at La Sorbonne studying Italian because my original backup plan was to become a French teacher in Italy or a translator at the UN. However, with the rise of AI, this backup plan became more challenging to achieve than acting!
I have a real passion for Italy and its culture. I have been to Florence multiple times and know it like the back of my hand.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?
Aline Humbert – A: I was just involved in the Hollywood Fringe Festival, where I had two shows. The first show was a play I was directing and had a small part in. The second show was a solo performance in which I wrote, produced, directed, and acted. At the moment, I am engaged in a documentary project that is in pre-production. I am also working on a couple of film projects and waiting for the three features I acted in to be released this year.
