Q: Where are you initially from, and where are you based now?
Nathaniel Goodwin -A: I’m originally from Panorama City, Los Angeles, and now I reside in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. My family lives in California, and I intentionally visit them every year because I love my family members. No man or woman is promised tomorrow, and I live my life with a selfless attitude; giving back to the community is a value I learned from my parents. I was born with a big heart (cardiomegaly), and because of that, I work twice as hard to develop relationships with people, and I care deeply about the people in my life. I avidly endorse Bruce Lee’s way of living, and he inspires me. My favorite direct quote from Bruce is, “If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there; you must go beyond them.” My famous saying, “The Galaxy is the Limit,” is a way for me to keep pushing myself forward no matter what circumstances impede my path. People can transform their lifestyle and obtain self-actualization when the mind, body, and spirit are connected as one identity.
Q: Rising in the film industry, what motivates and inspires you to be the best at your profession in acting, and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?
Nathaniel Goodwin -A: The film industry intrigues me because it allows individuals to be creative and share their talent with the world. What motivates me to be the best model and actor I can be is the desire to grow and learn from others. I self-reflect weekly on my modeling and acting career and understand that there is always room for improvement. Humility is necessary to acquire if a person wants to do well in the industry because you’re not guaranteed anything in the film and modeling industry. One month, you can be on top of the world and book many jobs; the next month, you may not book any jobs. It’s a brutal reality that all models and actors face in their entertainment careers. My top three favorite actors/actresses are Denzel Washington, Peyton List, and Michelle Rodriguez. Ben Richardson is a local Oklahoma acting hero I respect and would love to work with in the future. He is a director, writer, producer, and photographer, and throughout his career, he has always worked on a project and changed the narrative for actors who live in Oklahoma. He is the Gold standard, encouraging many people to work hard to follow their dreams.
Q: What is your favorite genre in roles you play (Drama, Comedy, Action, Thriller, a little bit of all)?
Nathaniel Goodwin -A: I don’t have a specific genre I identify as my favorite, and I consider myself a chameleon who can blend in and enjoy each role. My thoughts on acting are that a great actor can connect with the audience, and they become their assigned character when they perform. For example, in Training Day, Denzel Washington became the character Alonzo when he delivered his famous King Kong speech. I still feel chills when I rewatch that scene because of his intense delivery. Another noticeable actor performance that instantly stood out was Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Many actors have played Joker, but he will always be the ultimate Joker because of the character development he brought to the table during the film. His Joker performance was so good that I was in awe of his acting abilities and witnessed the transformation of the iconic villain character in the Batman movies.
Q: Can you share something people may not know about you? What hobbies or other secret talents do you have and like to do in your spare time?
Nathaniel Goodwin -A: Many people don’t know I keep a journal and write poetry in my spare time. I also have a Taekwondo background. I enjoy reading autobiography books, and one of my ultimate goals is to write a book and have it published. I also volunteer to mentor college students and read to elementary students. I enjoy playing basketball, working out, traveling, playing video games, watching movies and anime, and reading manga.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?
Nathaniel Goodwin -A: I’m currently working on updating my modeling portfolio with Mark Gunter from Mark Gunter Photography (mark@markgunterphoto.com). I’m lucky that my agent from Sunshine ProductionTalent contacted me to inform me that I have been selected and booked for a national modeling opportunity in January. As a model, my most significant accomplishments this year were presented on a New York Times Square Billboard and a cover model for SISCO and Coral Avenue magazines. I’m blessed beyond measure, and I give God all the glory.
