Q: Where are you originally from and where are you located now on the map?
Dilara Foscht – A:Originally I am from Austria, Europe. That´s where I was born and raised. Amongst 4 other siblings, – It definitely never got boring with so many kids around. After working in theatre and a little bit on screen in Austria and Germany for some time I relocated to North America. Currently, I am working in the film industry in Vancouver,- or as many say: “Hollywood North”.
Q: Dilara, as a rising star actress what would you say motivates you and inspires you to be the best at your profession and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers or directors that you want to work with in the business?
Dilara Foscht – A: I believe what motivates me to be the best actress I can be is simply the beauty of stories. There are so many amazing stories out there that need to be told. And I can only help to tell those stories if I bring my best craft. I want to be part of that storytelling process. I want to dive into different time periods in the past – present – and future and bring characters to life that I wish I would have seen on screen when I was younger.
It´s hard to limit myself to 3 filmmakers/creatives I would love to work with but Greta Gerwig is definitely on top of my list. She is such an inspiring director, writer and actress. Also Austrian filmmaker Marie Kreutzer is at the top of my list. And then of course Saoirse Ronan and Christoph Waltz.
Q,: What is your fav genre in roles you play( Drama, Comedy,Action, a little bit of all) ?
Dilara Foscht – A:I don´t really have one ultimate favorite genre but I do LOVE period pieces. It´s like traveling back in time. I love doing the research on different times and trying to figure out how life must have been for people who lived back then.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time?
Dilara Foscht – A: I guess most people already know that about me but I am a proud workaholic. If it doesn’t feel like work is it really work, I wonder? I also love to dance, even if not competitively anymore, and I am a born equestrian so obviously I always sigh when I see a horse. I also love to learn new things. I´m super curious. I can´t help it. I always have a stack of about ten books next to my bed: a novel, a biography, some poem books, old literature, and psychology books that I picked up at the thrift store.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?
Dilara Foscht – A: The last project I did was an amazing sci-fi indie movie that dealt with humanoid robots in the future. I loved the topic because chances are high that this is our future. I loved playing with the question “what if“. Currently, I am working on a feature that I´ll be shooting this spring.
