Ryan Koss is a talented rising actor in the film industry. He is most known for his roles in Sweet Brother What Have You Done (2023), The Interview Project (2024) and Rock Bottom (2023). Read below our exclusive interview with rising actor Ryan Koss:
Q: Where are you originally from and where are you based now?
Ryan – A: Hi, my name is Ryan Koss and I am originally from Redlands, CA. I have just finished my degree in Theatre (Acting) from Pepperdine University, so I am now based in Los Angeles, CA.
Q: As a rising actor in the industry, what motivates and inspires you to be the best at your profession in acting and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers, or directors that you want to work with in the business?
Ryan – A: As a rising actor in the industry, what motivates and inspires me to be the best in the profession of acting are all of my peers around me and the hard work and discipline I see in them every day. There are so many actors that I love and would love to work with someday. These include all of the actors who have played Spider-Man, Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield, and Jake Gyllenhaal, Austin Butler, Pedro Pascal, and Ewan McGregor. These actors inspire me every day with their discipline and dedication to the craft and consistently delivering phenomenal performances that both inspire me and drive me to take more risks in my acting.
Q:What is your favorite genre in roles you play (Drama, Comedy, Action, Thriller, a little bit of all)?
Ryan – A: I definitely love playing a variety of genres in the roles that I play, but the ones that I love in particular are Drama and Action. I’ve only played roles so far that are primarily Drama, but I’ve trained in the past in stunt work, martial arts, and boxing, so I would love to attribute that to a role that I play one day, whether it’s as a superhero in Marvel or DC, Star Wars, or Power Rangers.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or or other talents you have and or like to do in your spare time?
Ryan – A: Something that people may not know about me is that I am an avid gamer. I love all types of video games, from story-driven games like The Last of Us, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, starring Cameron Monaghan, or Red Dead Redemption 2 to multiplayer focused games like Fortnite or Call of Duty. Acting in video games has always been a dream of mine, whether it’s voice acting or doing motion capture, or ideally both. I’m always inspired by voice actors in the industry especially Troy Baker and actors that come from the screen into video games like Cameron Monaghan. My hobbies include playing the drums and guitar and exercising. I grew up playing drums in Drumline/Marching Band in middle school and high school, so I love playing music in general as it opens up my inner artist and keeps my mind active.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on?
Ryan – A: I am not currently working on any projects at the moment, but my film partner in crime, Matthew Dylan and I are always making short films as we did during our time at Pepperdine together, two of which include Rock Bottom which he wrote and directed me in and The Interview Project which he co-starred in with me. We are always making films together no matter what, so stay tuned.
