Q: Where are you originally from and where are you based now?
Shivaan Makker – A: I was born in New Delhi, India, but moved to New Jersey at a very young age. After high school, I went to USC in Los Angeles. The LA sunshine has kept me here ever since.
Q: Shivaan, what motivates you and inspires you to be the best at your profession in directing and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers or directors that you want to work with in the business?
Shivaan Makker – A: The motivation and inspiration come straight from Alfred Hitchcock’s belief for the purpose of cinema. I believe that cinema is the safest place to experience fear. The audience will ultimately feel safe behind the silver screen. After such a thrill, they are left with a full awareness of the brutal existence of evil. I would love to work with Alfred Hitchcock, but he’s dead. My next top 2 would be John Carpenter and David Cronenberg as they both shaped the horror genre.
Q: What would you say is your favorite genre that you make (Drama, Comedy, Action, Thriller, a little bit of all)?
Shivaan Makker – A: I love to make anything that’s not slow or boring. So if it were a drama, it would be fast paced. Thrillers and horrors are my forte. I also like to write dark comedies.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time?
Shivaan Makker – A: In my downtime, I run a true crime museum that includes paintings, art work, and letters from such evil people. I also have been a big contributor for fundraising and donating to stray dog shelters in India. I love dogs.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?
Shivaan Makker – A: Currently, I am writing a feature about another serial killer known as. This is going to be more like Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets Silence of the Lambs. So, it is going to be a bit dark. I am also concurrently making a documentary on stray dogs and dog abuse, which is going to be quite triggering and sad, but the hope of it all is to raise awareness for the poor pups. So, they can get the help they truly need!
