Damith Warnasuriya is a multi-dimensional actor rising in the entertainment industry. Damith is known for his roles in Tab Out, CSEC, Discharged, Due Process and leading in many more. He has studied at some of the greatest training programs including completing the 2 year Meisner Technique program at the prestigious The Sanford Meisner Center! Read below our exclusive interview with Da Man, Da Myth, Da Legend Talent Damith Warnasuriya:
Q: Where are you originally from and where are you located now on the map?
Damith Warnasuriya – A: I was born and raised in Granada Hills, CA, but my ethnic and family background is from Sri Lanka. My first name Damith means Religious Leader and my last name, Warnasuriya means Ray of the Sun. I recently moved in May and am currently living in Santa Clarita, CA.
Q: What motivates you and inspires you to be the best at your profession as an actress and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers or directors that you want to work with in the business?
Damith Warnasuriya – A: When I was in high school, I didn’t really connect with many people so I sought out after-school clubs to join. One of the clubs was to help with a penny drive fundraiser where we filmed a sketch to promote it. I thought it’d be fun and decided to volunteer to help out! It was a great way to entertain my peers along with promoting the drive. I didn’t think anything of it at the time but when I first took my Meisner class during grad school, I was hooked in the craft where I decided pursue it as a full-time career.
My top 3 favorite filmmakers that I want to work with are Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan and Jon Favreau.
Q: What would you say is your fav genre in roles you play( Drama, Comedy,Action, a little bit of all) ?
Damith Warnasuriya – A:I love a combination of Drama, Comedy and Action! I was inspired by the Robin William’s movie Patch Adams where I’m a big supporter of the slogan: laughter is the best medicine. It brightens people’s day but also educates them on important issues as well. I recently got into Action with the creation of my first action reel which inspired me to continue down the path and learn new fight styles! I hope to be a representative from my community to help tell those stories and to put Sri Lanka on the map of the entertainment industry.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time?
Damith Warnasuriya – A: I am Dog-Father raising two Labrador Retriever puppies, one of them being a rescue shelter dog. Here are a couple photos of them:
Other hobbies that I have been working on in my spare time has been traveling, taking stunt classes, screenwriting and also training in Muy Thai and Boxing.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?
Damith Warnasuriya – A:I recently was in a commercial for Allergen and for the mobile game State of Survival. I have created my first action reel which I will share that link below and am currently working on developing my first screenplay while auditioning:
