Wendee S. Miller is a Multi-Dimensional Actress with 20+ years of contribution to the entertainment industry and winning a Silver Star Award in the arts! Wendee is a rising star in the film industry with some great projects she just wrapped up and also future projects lined up. Read our exclusive interview below with Actress Wendee S. Miller:
Q: Where are you originally from and where are you located now on the map?
Wendee S. Miller – A: I was born and raised in the beautiful Cayman Islands which is a little island located in the Caribbean. My island is known for the gorgeous beaches, foods, and culture. I took a leap of faith to move to the USA to pursue my dreams as an Actress and Director and now I’m currently based in Atlanta Georgia.
Q: Wendee, you are an Actress, Director, Producer, Editor primarily known for your roles & work in the film projects ‘Hands Up’, ‘Secrets Unflold’, and ‘Easily Listening’ ! You also have 20 + years of contribution to the entertainment industry earning a Silver Star Award which is amazing! What would you say motivates you and inspires you to be the best in your profession?
Wendee S. Miller – A: would say that there are several things and people that motivate me. Let me start off by saying that God has given me the gifts/talents and it just NEVER seems to go away. It is a love that never leaves my mind, heart nor soul. I think about it day and night and I can’t get it out of my system. So, I use that as my fuel. Along with all the love for the craft, I would say that my children and my mother are my next motivators. They believe in me and my talents; they support me in all my ideas and productions, staying up with me long hours and encouraging me when the ideas that I have had didn’t work out. I want to be an example for my children and all the younger generations around the world that may have the same dreams like I do. I want them to know that if God can use a little Caymanian woman like myself, to pursue her dream and make it, then He can do it with them as well once they believe, stay focused, don’t give up and put God in everything that they do. I always believe that my life is not my own, and I want to create content that the world can relate to and examples that everyone can apply to their lives to make it better for them. Having that as my mindset, always makes me strive to give my all and to produce my best in this profession, whether it be acting, directing, producing, editing, or writing.
Q: Do you have a selection of top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers or directors that you admire and want to work with in the business?
Wendee S. Miller – A: This one is a hard one because I can only choose 3. There are so many persons in the industry that I absolutely admire, so I would have to break it down to my top 3 favorite actors/actress and top 3 favorite Filmmakers/Directors that I would love to work with. My top three Actors/Actresses that I would love to work with would be Mrs. Viola Davis, Mrs. Octavia Spenser & Mr. Idris Elba (Also Chris Hemsworth). As for Filmmakers/Directors, I would have to say that I would love to work with Mr. Steven Speilberg, Mr. Michael Bay, and definitely Mr. Tyler Perry (also Mr. Jordan Peele). I had to throw those other 2 persons in there. lol. The list can go on and on, but I had to mention these amazing creatives and Masterminds that gives 1000% of their all in every project or film that they are involved in. I believe that I will have the opportunity to work with most, if not all of these wonderful people and many others that I didn’t mention above.
Q: Do you have a favorite genre of films when it comes you roles you’d most like to book ( Drama, Comedy ,Action, a little bit of all) and is there something you’d like to expand upon?
Wendee S. Miller – A:My favorite genre is Drama. I absolutely love anything Dramatic. It allows me to stretch myself to maximum capacity. I would say that it is my strongest genre, but I could definitely do action, romantic comedies, comedies and the works. I never try to only do the genres that I am stronger at. I try to expand myself by strengthening and pushing myself in the genres that I may be a bit weaker on and work those muscles whether it be in acting, writing or directing. So whenever opportunities arise, I don’t have to turn down any opportunity because of ignorance or not being strong at that genre.
Q: Share with us something people may not know about you . What hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time aside from filmmaking ?
Wendee S. Miller – A: I love this question! For those who know me and are that are very close with me, know that one of my biggest hobbies that I love doing is Cooking Authentic Caribbean Foods. I love it so much that I would just cook for my friends to come over and just watch them eat and enjoy my good home cooked dishes. Being here in Atlanta, I have been cooking for friends and family functions and I absolutely Love it!! I also Love singing and teaching dance. That was something that I did back home in Cayman. I love to stretch persons, both adults & children to the highest of their ability to do something out of the box. To see them achieve all that they have worked on and have that as a tool in their box of gifts and talents, it makes me feel good to know that I helped in some way, to advance someone else to be great in what they love. As for Singing. I sang as a backup singer for most of the Christian concerts and events in Cayman if I wasn’t singing in theatre shows or acting gigs. So singing is another gift that I absolutely love doing especially with my kids, which are all singers too.
Q: Can you share with us any projects you have it the works or that you’ve wrapped up?
Wendee S. Miller – A: We just wrapped on a short film called “Possessive” and I was the Director of Photography and 1st Assistant Director for this short. I am currently editing it. I do have about 5 films lined up, with roles that I am super excited to be apart of. They are in preproduction at the moment and over the next few months, I will be giving updates on these projects. I am also writing a feature film which will be a collaboration of cast and crew from the USA and the Cayman Islands. That Is the biggest one yet and this project is going to be an amazing movie to see, especially if you love Romantic comedies. So overall, I am using all my production hats as much as possible in Directing, Producing, Editing, Writing and Acting, with these projects.
