Read our exclusive interview below with Actor Marius lliescu!

Q: Where are you originally from and where are you located now on the map?

Marius Iliescu – A: I was born and raised in Bucharest, Romania, and for the past 25 years I have  been living in the States, Los Angeles being my home for the last 10.

Q: Marius, you are rising in the industry! What would you say motivates you  and inspires you to be the best at your profession and do you have a top 3  favorite actors, filmmakers or directors that you want to work with in the  business?

Marius Iliescu – A: I was bred as a character actor so I drain each role through my blood and sweat; no shortcuts-no easy way out. I love the fight I put up each time in order to find my character and the feeling of relief once I connect deeply with it; the rest is like riding a high wave. My motivation in this business is finding a new me each time I work the camera and what inspires me is the relentless efforts of so many great men and women before me in the name of making cinema count amongst the finest arts. Working with acting giants like Al Pacino, Robert De  Niro, Robert Duval or Gary Oldman and having the honor to live on set for Clint Eastwood, Ridley Scott, Ron Howard or Kathryn Bigelow would be a dream come true. No disrespect to so many other great names in the industry for which I bow with respect, but the list would be too long for the purpose of this article.

Q: As an actor, What would you say is your fav genre in roles you play( Drama,Comedy,Action, a little bit of all) ?

Marius Iliescu – A: My gut is leading me more towards Drama and Action, but I would never say no to a well-written Comedy. After all, a good script has all these elements within it.

Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about  you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time?

Marius Iliescu – A: When I was a kid my hero was the famous French oceanographer Jean Cousteau who inspired my deep love for nature, its fragility and beauty. It made me want to explore everything around me, so back in Romania I became a professional mountain guide. I loved everything about it; the humble respect for  the mountain, the hardship of reaching the summit, the moments of solitude once there. Now, all this is connected with my passion for acting because there are so many common links here. Every actor has many mountains to climb, fights hard to rise at his character’s height and, once there, enjoys the quietness of seeing through its eyes. It’s just beautiful, like the sun seen from the top of the highest mountain.

Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?

Marius Iliescu – A: This year was quite unfortunate for me; I was with Esprit Talent Agency for a few years now and everything was great, but in January my agent, Mike Gerard, passed due to medical complications and, just like that, I was left without representation. My career came to a halt as I tried to find a new agency, but is not easy. Coming back to your question, last year I wrapped with Ave Fenix Pictures Studios “Where Sweet Dreams Die”, an immigrant tale about the not so sweet American Dream, where I played Ivan, a merciless east-European money launderer. I am also working with Facet TV, on “Sin 13”, an all-global thriller,  Bourne style, that currently has its pilot developed and episodes to be produced soon.
