Melanie Medina is a rising star actress in the film industry. Q: Where are you originally from and where are you located now on the map?
Melanie Medina – A: I am originally from Point Loma, San Diego, CA. I now live in Vista, CA.
Q: Melanie, what would you say motivates you and inspires you to be the best at your profession and do you have a top 3 favorite actors, filmmakers or directors that you want to work with in the business?
Melanie Medina – A: I love a good challenge and this is definitely one of the most challenging industries out there. Being able to do something different every day always keeps things interesting. Being able to have your life change overnight with the right project is always motivating. Watching the actors who took 10-20 years to be a so-called “overnight” success, their stories are extremely inspiring. I do believe that hard work pays off and that the universe will reward those who continue the hustle in this industry. Some top industry professionals that would be a dream to work with are: Viola Davis, Goldie Hawn, Marja-Lewis Ryan, Shonda Rhimes, Mariska Hargitay, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg (I could keep going, there are so many amazing industry professionals who would be a dream to work with).
Q,: What is your fav genre in roles you play( Drama, Comedy, Action, a little bit of all) ?
Melanie Medina – A: Action, Drama & Procedural.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time?
Melanie Medina – A: I am part of the LGBTQ community. I was born and raised in San Diego, California, youngest of 6 children from hardworking entrepreneurial parents who immigrated from Portugal to the United States. I put myself through college and received a BA in Criminology while managing restaurants without pulling a single penny for student loans. I am self-made and have been successful in management roles and being a prominent leader in several different industries such as Food & Beverage, Criminal Justice, and Construction. After realizing that I put my passion for acting on the shelf to pursue the societal norm of Corporate America, I decided enough was enough to get back in the entertainment industry. With my vast knowledge in several different industries, coupled with her diversity, I am an asset and natural choice when it comes to casting. I am also a very passionate actress who is extremely flexible, prepared, has a strong work ethic, and am collaborative, easy to work with and open-minded. I believe in doing whatever the Right thing to do is in every situation, it’s all about being a good, honest, humble and hardworking human being. Be kind to others.
Q: What are some projects that you’ve just wrapped up recently or that you’re currently working on now?
Melanie Medina – A: I just received a callback for a National Commercial, fingers crossed on that one. I am auditioning regularly and am working on a couple projects.
